Set expiration dates for API keys

Picture Mark SalpeterMark Salpeter

Choose when project and organization API keys expire to support regular rotation and temporary integrations.

You can now set an expiration date when creating a project or organization API key. Expired keys can no longer authenticate requests, giving you control over how long credentials remain usable.

  • Give a temporary integration a key that expires when the work is complete.
  • Set a 90-day lifetime for production keys to support your team's rotation schedule.

Get started

Open Project Settings → API Keys or Organization Settings → API Keys and create a new key. Choose 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, 1 year, or a custom date in the expiration selector.

No expiration remains the default, and existing keys keep working without a new expiration date. To rotate a key, create a replacement and update your application before the old key expires.
